Winter Cover Crop Seed Mix – SAM2 / CSAM2

Multi-species winter cover crop mix for SAM2 and CSAM2, combining legumes, brassicas and cereals/grasses at 25kg/ha.

The Winter Cover Crop Seed Mix is a multi-species cover crop mixture designed to provide soil surface protection and root growth during the winter period. The mixture combines Spring Vetch, Mustard, Berseem/Crimson Clover, Oil Radish and Black Oats/Forage Rye, bringing together legumes, brassicas and cereal/grass species within one seed mixture.

The mixture is designed to support soil structure and soil biology while helping to minimise nutrient leaching, soil erosion and runoff. The supplied specification identifies the mixture for SAM2 and CSAM2 and requires a mixture containing at least two species from two or more plant families, including brassicas, legumes, cereals or grasses and herbs.

Sow at 25kg/ha in late summer or early autumn, drilling or broadcasting the seed into warm soils. The supplied specification states that the crop cannot be harvested as a cash crop. The stated height is approximately 20–200cm, with a flowering period of May to September.
