Herbal Ley – Legume & Herb Rich Sward

Legume and herb-rich herbal ley seed mix combining five grasses, six legumes and four herbs for productive livestock forage.

The Herbal Ley – Legume & Herb Rich Sward is a diverse grassland seed mixture designed to establish a productive forage sward for livestock, combining grasses with a broad selection of legumes and herbs. The formulation includes Perennial Ryegrass, Creeping Red Fescue, Meadow Fescue, Timothy and Cocksfoot alongside Red Clover, Sainfoin, Berseem Clover, Alsike Clover, Sweet Yellow Blossom Clover and Lucerne.

The inclusion of legumes and herbs provides greater species diversity than a grass-only ley. The supplied specification identifies the mixture’s aim as producing high-quality productive forage while reducing reliance on inorganic fertiliser, improving drought resilience and supporting soil structure, soil biology, carbon storage and long-term soil fertility.

Sow at 14kg/acre in late summer or early autumn, establishing the mixture in accordance with the requirements of the applicable environmental land management action. A 20kg pack covers approximately 1.43 acres at the recommended sowing rate. The stated flowering period is May to September, with plants reaching approximately 20–150cm, depending on species and growing conditions.
