Woodland & Shade Wildflower Plug Plants Mix

UK native wildflower plug plants for shaded gardens, woodland edges, and under tree canopies, providing colour, habitat, and ecological connectivity.

The Woodland & Shade Wildflower Plug Plants Mix is expertly designed for planting beneath trees, along woodland edges, and in shaded or semi-shaded areas where traditional wildflowers struggle to thrive. This carefully selected mix of UK native wildflowers provides seasonal colour, ecological diversity, and essential habitats for pollinators, birds, and small mammals.

Supplied as robust 40cc plug plants, this mix ensures rapid establishment and strong root development. Perfect for landscape contractors, ecologists, councils, landowners, and woodland restoration projects, it enhances biodiversity, creates visually appealing naturalised borders, and contributes to connected green corridors.

  • Site Preparation: Clear invasive weeds, dense turf, and leaf litter. Lightly rake or cultivate soil to improve plug establishment without disturbing existing tree roots.
  • Planting Time: Early spring or autumn planting is recommended for optimal growth.
  • Planting Density: Plant plugs 20–30cm apart, allowing space for natural spread and understorey development.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly after planting. Established plugs generally thrive under natural rainfall in shaded conditions.
  • Maintenance: Minimal care required. Light annual cutting after flowering helps reduce competition and encourages self-seeding.
