Wood Anemone Autumn Bulbs – JB1014

Wood Anemone bulbs with delicate white star-shaped blooms. Perfect for autumn planting in shaded woodland gardens, borders, and naturalised wildflower areas.

Wood Anemone (Anemone nemorosa) is a UK native spring wildflower, known for its delicate white, star-shaped blooms. Perfect for autumn planting, it thrives in shaded woodland gardens, naturalised areas, and wildflower meadows, slowly spreading to create a stunning carpet of early-season flowers.

Planting dormant bulbs in autumn ensures a reliable spring display from March to April, often appearing alongside bluebells, primroses, and other woodland favourites. Its finely divided leaves and low-growing habit make it ideal for naturalising under trees, shrubs, or in shaded borders.

  • Plant dormant Wood Anemone bulbs in autumn, typically from late September to November.
  • Plant bulbs at a depth of 5–7 cm, spacing them 10–15 cm apart.
  • Choose a shaded or dappled sunlight location, such as under trees or shrubs.
  • Plant in moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil; avoid waterlogged areas.
  • Water lightly after planting to help establish roots.
  • Bulbs naturalise slowly, forming low-growing floral carpets over time.
  • Allow foliage to die back naturally after flowering to feed the bulbs for the following season.
  • Fully hardy in UK gardens, no winter protection required.
