Winter Aconite Autumn Bulbs – JB1019

Winter Aconite bulbs with bright yellow blooms. Perfect for autumn planting, shaded borders, woodland gardens, and naturalised areas for early-season colour.

Winter Aconite (Eranthis hyemalis) is a hardy, early-flowering wildflower with bright yellow, buttercup-like blooms. Ideal for woodland gardens, borders, and naturalised areas, it thrives in shaded, moist soil and multiplies over time to create golden carpets in late winter.

Planting in autumn ensures these cheerful bulbs bloom reliably in late winter and early spring, often pushing through snow to signal the start of the new growing season. Their vibrant colour, low-growing habit, and naturalising ability make them perfect for adding early-season interest to your garden.

  • Plant dormant Winter Aconite bulbs in autumn, typically from late September to November.
  • Plant bulbs at a depth of 5–7 cm, spacing them 5–10 cm apart.
  • Choose a shaded or partially shaded location, such as woodland areas or under trees.
  • Plant in moist, well-drained soil; avoid waterlogged conditions.
  • Water lightly after planting to help bulbs establish roots.
  • Once established, bulbs naturalise readily and require minimal maintenance.
  • Allow foliage to die back naturally after flowering to feed bulbs for the following season.
  • Fully hardy in UK gardens, no winter protection required.
