Wildflowers for Butterflies Plug Plants Mix

Wildflower plug plants designed to support butterflies. Ideal for meadows, field margins, gardens, and biodiversity enhancement projects.

The Wildflowers for Butterflies Plug Plants Mix has been carefully developed to support butterflies at every stage of their lifecycle, providing nectar-rich flowers for adults and suitable habitat for breeding and shelter. Comprising a diverse selection of UK native wildflowers, this mix enhances biodiversity while creating colourful, dynamic landscapes.

Supplied as 40cc plug plants, it establishes quickly and delivers long-term ecological value. Ideal for ecologists, councils, farmers, landowners, and landscape professionals, this mix is well suited to meadows, field margins, parks, gardens, and conservation or BNG schemes.

  • Site Preparation: Remove competing grasses and weeds. Light cultivation will help improve plug establishment and root penetration.
  • Planting Time: Plant in spring or early autumn when soil moisture is consistent.
  • Planting Density: Space plugs 20–30cm apart to allow nectar-rich species to spread naturally.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly after planting; additional watering may be required during prolonged dry spells in the first growing season.
  • Maintenance: Cut back after flowering and remove arisings to maintain open conditions and encourage self-seeding. Avoid fertilisers.
