Wild Carrot Wildflower – JC1301

Delicate white-flowered biennial/perennial for pollinator-friendly meadows, field margins, and ornamental borders. Low-maintenance and wildlife-friendly.

Wild Carrot (Daucus carota) Wildflower (JC1301) is a versatile biennial/perennial wildflower valued for its delicate white umbels and fine foliage. Highly attractive to pollinators, including bees, hoverflies, and butterflies, Wild Carrot enhances biodiversity while adding visual interest to meadows, field margins, and wildlife-friendly landscapes.

This hardy species is ideal for wildflower meadows, BNG schemes, parks, roadside verges, and garden borders. Once established, Wild Carrot provides long-lasting ecological and ornamental benefits, contributing to species-rich, low-maintenance landscapes.

  • Seedbed Preparation: Prepare a fine, firm seedbed free from weeds and competing vegetation. Ensure good seed-to-soil contact for optimum germination.
  • Sowing Time: Best sown in spring or early autumn when soil moisture is consistent.
  • Sowing Rate: Broadcast evenly over the prepared area and lightly firm. Avoid burying seeds too deeply.
  • Establishment: Biennial/perennial species establish gradually. First-year growth develops foliage, with flowering occurring in the second year and continuing thereafter.
  • Management: Cut once or twice annually depending on site objectives. Remove arisings to maintain low fertility and encourage flowering.
  • Long-Term Care: Avoid fertilisers and minimise disturbance to maintain long-term flowering and biodiversity.
