Summer Snowflake Autumn Bulbs – JB1028

Elegant late-spring bulbs producing white, bell-shaped flowers with green tips, ideal for naturalising in borders, woodland gardens, and meadows.

Enhance your garden’s late spring charm with Summer Snowflake (Leucojum aestivum) bulbs, producing graceful white, bell-shaped flowers tipped with fresh green markings. These elegant blooms appear in late spring, gently nodding above lush green foliage and adding a refined, natural look to borders, woodland gardens, and meadows.

Supplied as dormant bulbs for autumn planting, Summer Snowflakes are typically available from late September through November (subject to availability). Once established, they return reliably year after year, gradually naturalising to form attractive drifts with very little maintenance required. Their subtle fragrance and nectar-rich flowers make them a valuable addition to wildlife-friendly gardens, attracting bees and other pollinators.

Hardy and adaptable, Leucojum aestivum thrives in a range of garden settings, from lightly shaded woodland edges to sunny borders with moist, well-drained soil.

  • Plant dormant Summer Snowflake bulbs in autumn, ideally between late September and November.
  • Plant bulbs at a depth of 5–7 cm, spacing them 10–15 cm apart.
  • Choose a position in full sun to partial shade for best flowering results.
  • Plant in moist but well-drained soil; Summer Snowflakes tolerate heavier soils if drainage is adequate.
  • Water well after planting to help bulbs establish strong root systems.
  • Once established, plants require very little maintenance and will naturalise over time.
  • Allow foliage to die back naturally after flowering to feed the bulb for the following season.
  • Fully hardy in UK conditions and does not require winter protection.
