SuDS Wildflower Matting – GS1025

SuDS Wildflower Matting (GS1025) combines 50% wildflowers and 50% grasses, designed for sustainable urban drainage systems. Low-maintenance, flood-tolerant, and flowering March–September.

John Chambers Wildflowers’ SuDS Matting (GS1025) is specifically designed to enhance sustainable urban drainage systems (SuDS), including swales, rain gardens, attenuation basins, and other soft rainwater management solutions. Composed of a balanced 50:50 blend of native wildflowers and grasses, this matting is both resilient and adaptable, tolerating periodic flooding as well as dry conditions. Delivered ready-to-lay, the mats provide an efficient, low-maintenance solution for creating biodiverse, functional landscapes that contribute to flood management and water quality improvement.

Ideal for developers, ecological consultants, and land managers, our SuDS mats support a wide variety of wildlife while helping to meet regulatory and environmental goals. Flowering from March through September, the mats provide early-season color and ecological value, attracting pollinators and other beneficial species. With just a single annual cut at the end of the season, these mats are a low-maintenance choice that delivers maximum ecological impact with minimal effort.

At John Chambers Wildflowers, we combine ecological expertise with practical horticultural experience to ensure high establishment success in challenging sites. The SuDS Matting is engineered to thrive in variable moisture conditions while promoting soil health, biodiversity, and long-term ecological resilience. It is a trusted choice for anyone aiming to create sustainable, functional, and visually appealing green infrastructure.

  • Prepare the soil by removing weeds and lightly loosening the surface before installation.
  • Water after laying if conditions are dry to aid establishment.
  • One annual cut at the end of the season is sufficient; remove arisings to maintain species diversity.
  • Avoid heavy foot traffic in newly installed areas until the plants are well established.
  • Suitable for a wide range of soil types, including periodically waterlogged sites.
  • Monitor for invasive weeds and remove promptly to protect native species.
