The One Year Wild Bird Mix – Plus Sunflowers is a spring-sown annual wild bird seed mixture designed for establishment in blocks and strips. The mixture combines Spring Triticale, Sunflower, Linseed, Red Millet, Fodder Radish and Mustard to provide a range of seed-bearing crops within a single annual mixture.
The mixture is intended to grow and flower during spring and summer, providing food resources for smaller farmland birds while also supporting pollinators and an integrated pest management approach. Sunflower, millet, linseed, cereal and brassica components provide a diverse crop composition within the established area.
The mixture is specified for CSS AB9, AHL2 and CAHL2 applications. Sow at 20kg/acre in late spring to early summer, using drilling to establish the mixture in blocks or strips. The stated flowering period is June to September, with plants reaching approximately 50–200cm, depending on species and growing conditions.
