Loam Soils 80/20 Meadow Wildflowers – JC9003

An 80/20 grass and wildflower mix for loam and alluvial soils with neutral to alkaline pH. Ideal for BNG, development, and long-term managed meadows.

Loam Soils 80/20 Meadow Wildflowers (JC9003) is a durable meadow seed mixture designed for medium-textured loam and alluvial soils with neutral to alkaline pH. This mix combines 80% fine, resilient grasses with 20% native wildflowers, producing a long-lasting, visually appealing, and ecologically valuable sward.

The grass component includes Strong Creeping Red Fescue, Chewings Fescue, Hard Fescue, and Browntop Bent, chosen for their ability to establish quickly, tolerate moderate drought, and maintain structure on loam soils. The wildflower component mirrors the proven JC8003 composition, delivering seasonal colour, biodiversity benefits, and pollinator support without compromising sward stability.

JC9003 is ideal for development sites, parkland, field margins, low-input grasslands, and BNG delivery schemes, providing a managed, grass-led meadow with long-term ecological and aesthetic value.

  • Seedbed Preparation: Create a fine, firm seedbed. Remove perennial weeds prior to sowing.
  • Sowing Time: Best sown in autumn or spring when soil moisture is consistent.
  • Sowing Rate: Broadcast evenly and lightly roll to ensure good seed-to-soil contact.
  • Establishment: Grasses establish quickly to stabilise the sward, while wildflowers begin flowering in year one. Full meadow diversity develops over 2–3 seasons.
  • Management: Cut once or twice annually depending on objectives. Remove arisings to maintain low fertility and encourage wildflower persistence.
  • Long-Term Care: Avoid fertilisers and minimise soil disturbance to preserve botanical richness.
