Lily of the Valley Autumn Bulbs -JB1027

Fragrant Lily of the Valley bulbs with white bell-shaped flowers. Perfect for autumn planting, shaded borders, woodland gardens, and containers.

Lily of the Valley (Convallaria majalis) is treasured for its delicate, bell-shaped white flowers that fill shaded gardens with a sweet, enchanting fragrance. Blooming in late spring to early summer, this hardy perennial thrives in moist, well-drained soil, making it perfect for shaded or semi-shaded spots such as woodland paths, under trees, or along garden edges.

Once established, Lily of the Valley naturalises beautifully, spreading year after year to create an elegant, fragrant ground cover. Its sweet aroma and classic beauty make it a favourite for gardeners looking to enhance shaded areas with low-maintenance, long-lasting colour.

  • Plant dormant Lily of the Valley bulbs in autumn, ideally from late September to November.
  • Plant bulbs at a depth of 5–7 cm, spacing them 5–10 cm apart.
  • Choose a shade to partial shade location, such as woodland areas, under trees, or shaded borders.
  • Plant in moist, well-drained soil; avoid waterlogging.
  • Water after planting to help bulbs establish roots.
  • Once established, these bulbs are low maintenance and will naturalise over time.
  • Allow foliage to die back naturally after flowering to nourish bulbs for the following season.
  • Fully hardy in UK gardens, no winter protection needed.
