Green Roof 100% Mix Wildflower Seed – JC4172

A 100% UK-native wildflower seed mix for green roofs, delivering pollinator support, resilience, and biodiversity value in urban environments.

The Green Roof 100% Mix Wildflower Seed (JC4172) is a premium blend of 100% UK-native wildflowers, specifically designed for use on extensive and semi-extensive green roof systems. Carefully formulated to thrive in exposed, low-nutrient rooftop environments, this mix delivers long-term ecological value, strong pollinator support, and a visually striking floral display.

Featuring drought-tolerant, shallow-rooting species such as Viper’s Bugloss, Bladder Campion, Field Scabious, Kidney Vetch, and Oxeye Daisy, the mix is ideally suited to free-draining green roof substrates where resilience and adaptability are essential. These species establish reliably in rooftop conditions while providing rich nectar sources for bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects.

Part of the trusted John Chambers Heritage Range, this wildflower seed mix supports urban greening, living architecture, and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) objectives. It is suitable for both new-build and retrofit green roof projects across residential, commercial, and public-sector developments.

  • Sow onto a free-draining, low-nutrient green roof substrate
  • Recommended substrate depth: 70–150mm
  • Sow at 2–3g per m²
  • Best sown in spring (March–May) or autumn (August–October)
  • Autumn sowing supports natural overwinter stratification
  • Broadcast seed evenly; mixing with dry sand improves coverage
  • Lightly firm seed into the surface – do not bury
  • Water gently during dry periods until established
  • Avoid fertilisers, as high fertility reduces wildflower diversity
  • Cut once in late summer after flowering if required
