Sun Meadow Perennial Mix 100% Wildflowers (JC4508) is a diverse blend of over 15 perennial-dominated wildflower species, designed to create long-lasting, permanent flowering displays with strong ecological value.

Including species such as Alyssum, Dianthus, Hyssopus, Iberis, and Daisy, this mix establishes steadily to form a resilient and species-rich sward. Once established, it delivers reliable flowering from early summer through to winter, providing sustained nectar and pollen resources for pollinators and other beneficial insects.

Ideal for permanent landscape schemes, Sun Meadow Perennial Mix is well suited to parks, public open spaces, gardens, ecological landscaping, and low-maintenance planting areas where long-term performance, structure, and biodiversity enhancement are key objectives.

  • Seedbed Preparation: Prepare a fine, firm seedbed free from weeds and competing vegetation. Reduce soil fertility where possible to support wildflower establishment.
  • Sowing Time: Best sown in spring or early autumn when soil moisture is consistent and temperatures support germination.
  • Sowing Rate: Broadcast seed evenly and lightly firm to ensure good seed-to-soil contact. Avoid deep sowing.
  • Establishment: Perennial species establish more gradually than annuals. Initial growth focuses on root development, with flowering increasing year on year.
  • Management: Cut once or twice annually depending on site objectives. Remove arisings to maintain low fertility and encourage flowering.
  • Long-Term Care: Avoid fertilisers and minimise soil disturbance to maintain species diversity and longevity.

Location overview Performs best in open, sunny locations but is adaptable to a range of landscape settings. Suitable for long-term planting schemes in urban and rural environments where permanence and biodiversity are priorities.
Shade tolerance Prefers full sun to light partial shade. Dense shade may reduce flowering intensity.
Soil type Medium-textured soils including loam, sandy loam, and free-draining soils.
Soil fertility Low to moderate fertility is ideal. Excess nutrients can encourage leaf growth over flowering and reduce species balance.
Moisture Adapted to well-drained to moderately moist soils. Avoid prolonged waterlogging, particularly during establishment.
