John Chambers Launch New Dual-Purpose Wildflower Mix
John Chambers, part of the landscaping supplies firm Green-tech has launched an eagerly anticipated new wildflower mix.
The John Chambers Professional Dual-Purpose mix is a blend of native annual and perennial wildflower seeds and can be supplied with or without grass seed.
The mix is ideal where impact is required in the first growing season. The Cornfield Annual species including Poppy, Chamomile, Cornflower, Marigold and Corncockle will come through to give that burst of colour. The slower-growing perennial species such as Oxeye Daisy, Lady’s Bedstraw, Knapweed and Salad Burnet will be establishing, ready to spring forth from Year 2 onwards.
Stuart Ball, John Chambers Wildflower Manager comments,
“We have a lot of requests from landscaper contractors and designers who want their wildflower area to flower each year, but they don’t want to wait until year 2 as you would normally; they need instant colour and impact in year 1. This led us to develop the aptly named Dual-Purpose Mix.
To suit all budgets and project aspirations the mix is available as three options: a 100% wildflower mix, a 50% grass seed and 50% wildflower mix, and an 80% grass seed and 20% wildflower Mix.
The mix includes reliable species that are successful in most soil types and scenarios, so this mix is a great choice for those that do not know the exact constitution of their soil.
One of Stuart’s top tips is, “The best results come from well prepared areas and good maintenance for the developing sward, as and when necessary. One very important thing is to make sure that the sward is cut back after seed heads have dispersed in late-Summer or Autumn and always remove the cuttings.”
